Location: On the bus. Behind two guys in wheelchairs who were sitting up front in the handicapped section.
One wheelchair guy has grayish hair in a crew cut. He's got a faded tattoo on his neck. The other has a graying mullet. Both are conversing animatedly.
At one stop, crew cut guy looks out the window, and sees a man pushing a shopping cart filled beyond full of bottles and soda cans. Crew cut guy makes a "chhh" sound, and shakes his head. Mullet guy looks out, and tells his story:
"I tried that once," he says,"canning. Before this." He knods at his wheelchair, repeating, "Canning." I assume its street slang for collecting soda cans.
"It was hot, I was on my bike," he makes a disgusted face, reminiscing, "I got Coke all over me. It was sticky..." he pauses, blurts, "Bees chasing me!"
Tells his friend he was out all day and only made three dollars and some cents. Says, "Fuck." as in, "it wasn't worth it."
Anyway, cracked me up, the way he told the story. Kept thinking about him running away from bees. I snuck my camera out and took a picture of them. I'd post it if I knew how.
